14"(36 cm.) Bisque socket head,intaglio sculpted
blue eyes with pronounced black pupils,black and
incised upper eyeliner,short stroke brows,accented
eye corners and nostrils,closed mouth with defined
row of teeth,blonde mohair braids,composition and
wooden ball-jointed body,wearing antique flannel
sailor suit and cap,undergarments,shoes and
stockings. Condition: generally excellent. Marks:
Made in Germany A 4 M z. Comments: Marseille,circa
1910,from the firm's series of intaglio painted
eye characters created during the art-reform doll
movement. Value Points: rare model with very fine
quality of bisque enhanced by decorative
glaze,expressive features,original body and body
finish.
