16" (41 cm.) Sculpted composition or paper machesocket head depicting a young lad, blondesculpted hair with detailed bangs and combed behind thedefined ears, brown painted eyes, defined eyeliner and brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with very full pouting lips, defined chin, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, original brown velvet suit with chain belt, knit stockings, brown leather shoes. Condition: generally excellent, nosetip rub, finish on legs worn. Comments: a prototypemodel of Kammer and Reinhardt's 102 art-reform doll,Carl,is madein themanner of Marion Kaulitz dolls. It is known that K*R was highly influenced by thegreat success of theKaulitz 1908 exhibit in Munich and likely theK*R sculptor Lewin-Funckedetermined to createa prototypeor experimental version of his bisque102 model in thesamematerial; thedoll has no connection with Marion Kaulitz other than that. Oneother exampleof this doll is known (Theriault's auction,January 1998,#7),also 16",as well as a prototypemodel of the106 character. ValuePoints: extremely rareand important art character doll with compelling artistry.
