Description
23"(58 cm.) h. x 29"w. Stretched canvas on
original boards depicts a well-laden French toy
shop,Lignee & Tassel at Chaumont en the Haute
Marne region,during the 1880 era. A sales clerk
stands at the counter offering a selection of
toys and dolls to a gentleman and lady and their
two eager young children,while another clerk
descends a stair case with still more toys in his
arms. Architectural details in the background
include shelves,columns,chandeliers,and draperies.
Very good condition with some light paint wear,and
needing remounting,unframed. French,circa 1880,a
wonderfully detailed,animated and vibrant scene is
accurately and charmingly depicted.
