Description
12" (30 cm.) seated. 18" standing. Art-plaster sculpted head of adult lady with haughtily-uptilted oval face, long slender throat and modeled bosom, closed mouth, heavily-modeled eye lids over narrow painted brown eyes, pale blonde mohair wig in flapper era style, shapely cloth body, shapely bisque arms and legs, wearing burgundy velvet and gown. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Kate/ Baitz (incised on back shoulderplate). Comments: Lilly Baitz, circa 1920, from her series of fashionable ladies created in her own studios; this example bearing close resemblance to Charles Dana Gibson’s drawings known as Gibson Girls. Value Points: the haughty pose of Kate is enhanced by strong chin and lidded eyes.
