23" (58 cm.) Honey-toned poured wax shoulder head
doll,blue glass sleep eyes that operate from a
wire-lever in the torso,outlined eyes,painted
brows,closed mouth,blonde hair inserted in scalp
in small tendrils,softly-stuffed torso and upper
limbs,poured wax lower arms and legs,wearing
beautifully-detailed antique
gown,undergarments,slippers,stockings and bonnet.
Condition: generally excellent. Marks: (illegible
oval stamp on torso). Comments: attributed to Lucy
Peck,circa 1885,an identical doll with wire lever
in torso is shown in Coleman's Collector's
Encyclopedia of Dolls,page 924,Volume II. Value
Points: rare well-preserved doll with lever sleep
eyes,superb costume.
