Description
12" (30 cm.) Standing upon a green-painted
tinplate base with three spoked wheels is a
bisque-head girl with blue glass eyes,dark
eyeliner,painted lashes,feathered brows,closed
mouth with outlined lips,pierced ears,blonde
mohair wig,carton torso and legs,wire upper
arms,bisque forearms. She is wearingher original
ivory,blue and red silk dress with wonderful
details,matching Marquise hat with gilt paper
trim,and holding a long-stick tambour with
clusters of brass bells and feathers. When
wound,the toy moves forward and in circles,she
turns her head side to side,and briskly waves the
musical object that she holds. Condition:
generally excellent. Comments: Vichy,circa 1880.
Value Points: wonderful all-original doll with
beautiful face and costume,charming and
well-functioning movements.
