19" (48 cm.) Arranged upon an ebony wooden
basebeneath a glass domeis a velvet-covered tufted
cushion with gilt ormolu edging,tufted cushion,and
a pictureframeback which is decorated with silk
flowers and leaves and red silk ribbons. Enclosed
in theframeis an old photograph of a couple. A
brass plaquewith raised lettering "Soldat dela
Grand Guerre1914-1918" rests upon thecushion along
with a military hat of an Infantry Officer,other
mementoes of WWI,a bisqueangel with pink wings,and
a tiny calender almanac of 1914,thewholeoffering a
poignant glimpseinto âother people's lives'.
Excellent condition. French,WWI era,theold
tradition of "globes demariage" faded away shortly
after this time.
