Description
30" (76 cm.) Felt swivel head with firmly-pressed
and painted facial features,strongly-defined
cheeks,jaw and nose structure,painted brown
side-glancing eyes,painted thick brows and
lashes,accented nostrils,closed mouth,brown
cropped mohair inserted into scalp,elongated torso
and jointed limbs,molded bent elbows. Condition:
good,some dustiness to face and light costume
fading; headdress,yoke and sword not original; one
boot tassel missing. Comments:
Lenci,mid-1920s,model #560 in their
catalog,portraying Valentino in the then current
films "The Sheik" and "The Son of the Sheik".
Value Points: an extremely rare model with
distinctive facial modelling and exceptional
detail of original costume,including
embroidery,felt and metallic appliques,fabulous
high boots,and other accoutrements. Few examples
are known to exist.
