14" (36 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead with side-inclined head, very ruddy complexion, bald pate with black sculpted hair around the sides and back of head, incised facial wrinkles, enamel eyes, closed mouth with smiling expression, tinted grey beard stubble, tow-wrapped armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, deeply-defined wrinkled black leggings, brown shoes and red buckles, original costume comprising shirt, woven vest, pants, apron, cap, and holding cleaver. Excellent condition, costume somewhat dusty. Neapolitan, mid-1700s.
