26" (66 cm.) Pressed bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate with modeled bosom and shoulder blades,brown paperweight inset eyes with darker iris rims,thick dark eyeliner dramatizes the eyes,painted lashes,mauve blushed eye shadow,brush-stroked brows with feathered highlights,shaded nostrils,closed mouth with defined space between the full outlined lips,delicately-painted teeth,very full cheeks,pierced ears,elongated brunette mohair wig over cork pate,kid bebe body with gusset-jointing at hips and knees,curved upper arms,bisque forearms. She is wearing a fine black velvet dress with maroon silk insert and edging,lace collar and cuffs,silver buttons,antique undergarments,knit stockings,shoes,fine velvet and silk bonnet with large ribbon bows and bead edging. Condition: generally excellent,some kid patching on arms,left baby finger restored. Marks: (crescent/circle and dot symbol on head) Depose (front shoulder plate) (partial original paper label on chest). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru,circa 1880. The model was deposed in that year. Value Points: extremely rare large size model,likely intended for Exhibition purposes,with superb detail of sculpting and painting,including rare painted teeth,hip-length elongated wig,original sturdy body,early and beautiful costume.
