23" (58 cm.) The wooden stage-like presentation features hand-painted background of country scene with lambs and geese, and forest scene with wild animals; at one end is a tower and at the other end is a stage-like area with flanking posts. Inside the tower is a carved wooden boat in which is seated a wooden carved boy with painted costume. The boat is designed to move forward and backward. Excellent condition. French, early 1800s, the wonderfully-designed mechanical toy has superb original painting and simple yet charming movement.
