11" (28 cm.) Papier-mache head with painted facial
features in highly-characterized style,blue
outlined eyes,thick brows,soot-smudged complexion
with blushed cheeks as though for a particular
role,carton torso,metal upper arms and
legs,papier-mache hands with painted
gloves,weighted papier-mache over-sized feet.
Condition: generally excellent. Marks: R.D. (key).
Comments: Roullet et Decamps,circa 1920,when
wound,the character totters from side to side as
though walking drunkenly,depicting theatrical
performance. Value Points: rare French automaton
in well-preserved condition with original
costume,facial painting,well-functioning.
