12" (30 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate with modeled bosom and shoulderblades, brown glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked and feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with modeled tongue tip between the shaded and outlined lips, pierced ears, slender kid bebe body with scalloped edge collarette, kid over wooden upper arms, hinged bisque lower arms and hands, Chevrot-hinged hips, wooden lower legs, lovely antique costume. Condition: generally excellent, original finish on lower legs is scuffed. Marks: Bru Jne 2 (head) Bru Jne No. 2 (shoulders) Bebe Bru SGDG...(paper label on torso). Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, Chevrot era, c. 1884. Value Points: outstanding example of petite-size bebe with finest bisque, complexion and painting, perfect bisque hands, sturdy body, and owning original muslin chemise with Bebe Bru banner, and leather shoes signed "Bru Jne Paris" and "2".
