Description
13" (33 cm.) Each is of lush cream or golden mohair with shaved snout, large amber or crystal glass eyes, swivel head, toddler-shaped body with short stuffed legs, felt paw pads, and with Swiss music box in torso which plays a merry tune when the torso is squeezed, released and repeated. Good condition, snouts worn, mohair very worn on back legs of cream bear, paw pads replaced, music functions well. Germany, circa 1920, the musical bears are attributed to Moritz Pappe, sometimes referred to as "Helvetica" in reference to their Swiss musical mechanisms. Few examples are known to exist.
