26" (66 cm.) Pressed bisque swivel head in
kid-edged bisque shoulder plate with modeled bosom
and shoulder blades,deep blue glass paperweight
inset eyes,thick eyeliner to dramatize the
eyes,mauve-blushed eye shadow,painted
lashes,brush-stroked and multi-feathered
brows,accented eye corners,shaded nostrils,closed
mouth with defined space between the outlined
lips,rare painted teeth,elongated blonde mohair
wig over cork pate,French kid bebe body with plump
shape,gusset-jointed hips and knees,curved kid
upper arms,bisque forearms with
separately-sculpted fingers. She is wearing an
early linen princess-style dress with cotton
cut-work and velvet edging,original matching
undergarments,maroon knit stockings,shoes,and
elegant velvet bonnet with bead trim at the back.
Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Bru Jne 10
(and crescent/circle dot symbol at back of head)
Depose SGDG (forehead) Bru Jne 10 (shoulder plate.
Comments: Leon Casimir Bru,circa 1880,the model
was deposed in that year. Value Points: the
extremely-rare larger size and the superlative
quality of the bebe suggests its original
presentation as an Exhibition model; the body is
especially sturdy,and the bisque head,shoulder and
hands are perfect and
exquisitely-painted,waist-length antique wig of
softest mohair,and fine antique costume that seems
original.
