18" (46 cm.) Pirate). Of muslin with protruding long nose,shoe-button eyes,black worsted wool beard,moustache and hair,stitch-jointed body,sewn-on striped stockings,wearing his original faded pink jacket with felt belt and buckle,purple breeches,yellow felt boots and padded tall yellow pirateÞs hat with red and white striped band to match his stockings; along with flannel double-hump camel with constructed wrinkled knees,sewn-on red felt shoes,red felt harness with white tin buttons,printed eye lashes,nostrils and mouth,and celluloid disc eyes,wearing yellow felt flannel blanket with blue and red stripes. Condition: good,some fading,water stain on PirateÞs nose,Camel dusty,harness not original. Comments: Pirate by Volland,circa 1930,uncertain if Cameo is Georgene Novelties of 1941 or handmade from McCallÞs pattern also issued that year. Value Points: wonderful depictions of the storybook characters by Johnny Gruelle from the world of Raggedy Ann.
