Description
15" (38 cm.) All-cloth doll of brown muslin with
plump short body and very rounded
face,thickly-painted white brows and wide beaming
smile,painted red triangle-shaped nose,white
mother-of-pearl button eyes,painted black hair
under red cotton bandana,stitch-jointed body with
sewn-on wide-striped red and white stockings,red
sewn-on shoes. Condition: generally excellent.
Comments: Beloved Belindy,the first model produced
by Volland,c. 1926,from the character in his
book,Beloved Belindy,published in that year. Value
Points: very rare-to-find earliest model of
Belindy in wonderfully-preserved condition,having
original dress with red cotton bodice and flowered
skirt,organdy collar and apron with crochet lace
edging,bloomers,and bandana,and hand-painted features.
