14" (36 cm.) Porcelain swivel head with flat-cut neck socket that pivots 90% in a realistic manner,on original porcelain shoulder plate,lightly-tinted complexion,painted blue upper-glancing eyes,black upper eyeliner,feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth with center accent line,early brunette hand-tied human hair wig over lambswool cap and cork pate,softy-stuffed kid poupee body in the classic Rohmer manner with pull-strings in torso designed for seating pose,porcelain arms to above the elbows,wooden ball-joints in knees under kid cover. Condition: generally excellent,body very sturdy and clean,all head,body and limb parts original. Marks: Mlle Rohmer Brevete SGDG (oval stamp on torso). Comments: Leontine Rohmer,circa 1858,the poupee is all-original with body style and head swivel based upon the 1855 and 1858 Rohmer patents. The doll is being sold from its original family estate in Rouen,France,where it has resided for 150 years,along with her trunk and trousseau; Rouen,curiously,is near DÞAvranches,France in which the famous poupee,Blondinette,with her trunk and trousseau were located. The poupeeÞs name is "Suzanne Amaryllis",according to a pencil note "chapeaux de Suzanne Amaryllis" is written on a small box that was hidden in a corner of her trunk. Value Points: impeccably-preserved petite poupee with beautiful expression and porcelain. Suzanne Amaryllis is wearing an outstanding vibrant purple velvet gown with silk satin ribbon trim,along with a matching velvet toque cap,fine lace blouse,undergarments,and pair of woolen purple and red striped stockings and leather slippers. She also owns a dainty white cotton gown with lace and embroidery,cream waffle-weave pique gown with red soutache,blue linen plaid wide-waisted skirt with white blouse and black velvet beaded jacket,two cream cashmere dresses,green cashmere hooded cape with matching embroidered shawl,3 additional capes,6 various undergarments,night shift,dainty night gown,6 pairs of woolen stockings,maroon knit cape and cap,fur stole and muff,collar,sous-sleeves,snood,various jewelry,accoutrements and accessories,and six additional bonnets and hats,all included within her original leather-covered wooden trunk with two lift-out trays and having the original paper label of "Mlle Rohmer,Boulevard Poissonniere 24,Paris" on the tray underside.
