All-composition doll with socket head, very plump cheeks, painted side-glancing blue eyes, pronounced black eyeliner, smoky eyeshadow, one- stroke brows, tiny closed mouth with primly-set lips, fine blonde human hair wig, jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. Condition: generally excellent.. Comments: Burgarella, circa 1930, Rome, Italy, the luxury-based dolls were imported to the US by Hoest and Henderson in 1929; their production lasted less than a decade due to their luxury costs. Value Points: most sought-after doll with fine original painted finish, original body unique to this model, the doll is wonderfully costumed in royal purple silk and velvet.
