26" (66 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head with very
full cheeks and chin,amber-brown glass paperweight
inset eyes,dark eyeliner,painted
lashes,mauve-blushed eye shadow,brush-stroked
feathered brows,accented eye corners,shaded
nostrils,closed mouth with defined space between
the delicately-shaded lips,separately-modeled
pierced ears,auburn mohair wig over cork
pate,French composition and wooden
eight-ball-jointed body with straight wrists and
plump limbs. Condition: generally excellent.
Marks: 12 (head) Jumeau Medaille dÞOr Paris
(torso). Comments: Emile Jumeau,circa 1884,the
model known as "Triste" in reference to its
wistful expression,sculpted by the famed Parisian
artist,Carrier-Belleuse. Value Points: an
especially beautiful Bebe Triste with finest
quality of bisque and painting,wearing an
exquisite antique costume,undergarments,ruffled
silk and lace bonnet,knit stockings,leather shoes
signed "Bebe Jumeau Depose 12".
