Description
10" (25 cm.) x 7" box. 3"h. pitcher. A wooden box
is beautifully-covered with lithographed papers
centered by a gilt-lettered banner "Toilette" and
hinges open to reveal an unusual interior that
actually forms a toilette table,with set-back
lace-edged mirror on the three-sided inside lid
flanked by a pair of gilt ormolu candle holders. A
nine-piece porcelain toilette service is arranged
upon the table top along with various
combs,soaps,silk sachets,brushes,and other
articles. The "walls" and "floor" are covered with
lithographed papers to simulate wall and floor
covers,and the table is edged with fine lace to
match the mirror frame. Condition: generally
excellent. Comments: French,circa 1874. Value
Points: rare luxury presentation in its original
condition,the contents still tied to table and boards.
