20" (51 cm.) Bisque shoulder head of adult lady
with oval-shaped face,slender elongated throat,her
head tilted upward with strong chin and nose
lending a haughty expression,blue glass sleep
eyes,mohair lashes,heavy eyelids,short feathered
brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth with center
accent line,kid pin-jointed body with slender
shaping,bisque lower arms and hands. Condition:
generally excellent,Marks: 172 7 made in Germany
(head) (crown and streamer label on torso).
Comments: Kestner,circa 1910,the American artist
Charles Dana Gibson who illustrated a series of
vignettes featuring turn-of-the-century society
made famous a stylized drawing of this society
maven,immortalized in a doll that he designed for
the Kestner firm. Value Points: rarely-found
pristine condition with original
wig,pate,lashes,very sturdy and clean original
body,and wearing original blue cotton day dress
over lingerie,with original black shoes and stockings.
