26" (66 cm.) Bisque socket head with flattened solid dome,large brown glass inset eyes,dark eyeliner,painted curly lashes,brush-stroked and feathered brows,accented eye corners,shaded nostrils,closed mouth with defined space between the shaded and outlined lips,pierced ears,dimpled chin and philtrum,brunette mohair wig,Sonneberg composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists,lovely early dress with detailed lace,undergarments,lace ruffled bonnet,kidskin shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 137 15. Comments: Sonneberg,circa 1885,mystery maker,the doll strongly resembled the early French bebes and was designed to capture that market. Value Points: rare large size of the early doll with very expressive features,dramatically-large eyes,fine quality bisque and painting,superb costume.
