Description
8" (20 cm.) A Papier-mache double-handled jug has
a surprise inside: a bisque-head doll with blue
glass paperweight inset eyes,lushly-painted lashes
and brows, closed mouth modeled as though open with
a double row of tiny teeth, attached to
Papier-mache faux body with two bisque hands that
are held in front of her lips. Condition:
generally excellent. Comments: Roullet et
Decamps, circa 1890,when the key is wound and lever
released, the jar lid opens and the little girl
peeks out,her hands posed as though she is
savoring the sugar treat she just snitched,or
blowing kisses. Value Points: delightful and
rarely found automaton with beautiful bisque doll
and charming action.
