Description
16" (41 cm.) A wooden platform with hand-painted
scenes of grass and stream has a hidden simple
mechanism beneath,and four spoked wheels; posed
upon the platform is a 12" bisque-head girl with
glass eyes,painted features,closed mouth,mohair
wig,Papier-mache body with wooden lower arms,and
wearing a silk country-style dress with
apron,coiffe and carrying a floral and silk
decorated staff,along with three Papier-mache
geese with painted blue polka-dot feathers,real
features,glass eyes and open beaks. When pulled
along,the girl turns her head from side to side as
though directing the geese,and they turn side to
side as though running along. Condition: generally
excellent. Comments: French,circa 1890. Value
Points: charming country scene is amusingly
depicted,the toy in fine original condition
including costumes and decorations.
