Description
12" (30 cm.) overall. 7" dolls. 9 1/2" x 7" box. A
rosewood-finished wooden box with hidden musical
works and a silk-covered sound board with embossed
gilt paper trim is topped by two seated bisque
dolls each with glass eyes,painted features,closed
mouth,mohair wig,wooden arms and legs with painted
fancy stockings and shoes,wearing original silk
jester costumes,and holding cymbals in their
outstretched hands. The box was designed to be
worn around the neck,and when the side-handle is
turned,in organ-grinder fashion,music is played
and the dolls clap their hands causing the cymbals
to sound. Condition: generally excellent.
