17" (43 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate,blue glass enamel inset
eyes with spiral threading,dark eyeliner,delicately painted lashes and brows,accented nostrils
and eye corners,closed mouth with pale accented lips,pierced ears,ash-blonde mohair wig
over cork pate,kid poupee body gusset-jointed at hips,knees and elbows,separately-stitched
fingers. Condition: generally excellent,body very sturdy. Marks: Passage Delorme No 6,15,13
Maison Simonne Rue de Rivoli 188 (body label). Comments: circa 1867,the luxury Paris
boutique of Simonne commissioned the finest dolls and created elegant costumes for them in
their own ateliers. Francis Simonne described his firm thusly "I have specialized in dressing
dolls". Value Points: the lovely fashionable poupee with fine delicate complexion wears a
superb original costume with elaborate detailing,including gown with lace and silk ribbon
trim,undergarments,stockings,jewelry,bonnet,leather heeled boots signed 4,and bears her
original boutique label as a further testament to her luxury quality.
