Description
2 1/2" (6 cm.) Each has one-piece carved wooden
head,torso and arms,its torso posed on narrow
metal pins,and its legs swinging freely. The dolls
were designed to be placed upon a surface
which,when slightly joggled,cause the dolls to
"dance" about. Condition: generally excellent.
Comments: Germany,probably Erzebirge,mid-19th
century,the little novelty dolls were sold
individually,each hand-painted in imaginative and
colorful designs to represent various people of
the village or farm,and can also be found in
assembled table games by both French and German
toy makers. Value Points: rare to find,the nine
figures each have vibrant original painted
costumes,hats,facial features.
