Description
17" (43 cm.) All-cloth doll with stitch-shaped
facial shape including extended length
nose,printed ears,eye brows,and eye liner,round
black shoe-button eyes,black yarn hair and
beard,muslin stitch-jointed slender body with
stitched-on red and white striped stockings.
Condition: generally excellent,some costume fading
and one moth hole on jacket. Comments: Pirate
Chieftain,inspired by characters drawn by Johnny
Gruelle in his Raggedy Ann book,Camel with The
Wrinkled Knees,1931. Value Points: very rare model
wearing his original costume comprising purple
felt jodhpur-style breeches,pink felt jacket with
felt appliques,belt,white felt collar and
gloves,yellow felt boots and matching yellow felt
cap with felt skull and crossbones applique and
red and white cotton banding that matches the
stocking material.
