35" (89 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head,dark blue glass paperweight inset eyes,especially fine sculpting around eyes lending a dreamy heavy-lidded expression,dark eyeliner,grey eye shadow,painted lashes,brush-stroked brows,shaded nostrils,closed mouth with shaded and outlined lips,pierced ears,brunette mohair wig over cork pate,French composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: 2" hairline at the left side of head from crown rim to ear,otherwise excellent. Marks: B.M. 11.13. Comments: Mothereau,circa 1880,a luxury prestige firm with very limited production of bebes for a short time only. Value Points: gorgeous doll with superb painting and sculpting,defined philtrum,chin dimple,heavy eye lids,original body and body finish,fine antique blue velvet dress,undergarments,blue velvet purse,blue silk parasol,fancy antique bonnet; bebes by Mothereau are very rare and in this grand size virtually unknown.
