Description
11" (28 cm.) Of champagne-color mohair,the teddy
features a swivel head,disc-jointed arms and
legs,elongated arms,large feet,felt
paw-pads,wide-apart ears,back hump,long snout nose
with rust embroidered tip,rust claws,wearing an
antique costume of black felt flannel pants with
suspenders and red and cream knit stockings.
Condition: very good,some typical mohair play
wear,one ear re-stitched,nose embroidery worn.
Comments: Hecla,the American bear company that
existed for one or two years
only,1907/1908,attempting to compete directly with
Steiff,created this classic bear. Value Points:
extremely rare bear,few examples exist,with
charming expression,costume,the bear accompanied
its owner,Alice,on her honeymoon in 1908.
