Description
15" (38 cm.) A cardboard-shaped bone that is
decorated with embossed gold leaf papers and
engraving of a bride has silk handles and a
removable lid that is topped by a porcelain-head
doll with black sculpted hair, painted facial
features, wearing a silk jester cap and having lace
and silk ruffled trim forming a bodice. When the
lid is removed,it pulls along silk ribbons with a
cascading group of four porcelain babies, each in
lace-edged bunting trimmed with brass bell and
blue silk ribbons. French, circa 1875,the cone was
designed as a party favor at a luxury wedding
celebration,and is beautifully-preserved,its
little babies evidently offering good family
wishes to the new couple.
