Description
21" (53 cm.) One-piece carved wooden head and
torso with elegantly-shaped oval face on very
elongated throat,shapely torso with modeled detail
of bodice neckline,painted black hair with
extravagantly-painted curls onto her forehead,with
carved and painted gold-framed decorative comb at
her crown,painted brown outlined eyes with upper
lashes,fringed brows,tiny pointed nose with accent
dots,closed mouth,daintily-sculpted chin,pierced
ears,dowel-jointing at shoulders,elbows,hips and
knees of elongated limbs,painted flat black shoes.
Condition: very good with all original finish and
painting,some light typical craquelure. Comments:
Grodnertal,circa 1820. Value Points: rare early
doll in well-preserved original finish,rare
fancily-painted comb and wonderfully-detailed
curls at forehead,original early costume (small
tear),and earrings.
