Heubach, circa 1910,the doll is said to portray
Princess Angeline (1811-1896),the eldest daughter
and last living descendant of the great Suquamish
Chief Seattle whose poignant story has been
related in several books; the doll is a
precisely-accurate rendition of actual photographs
taken during her final years. Value Points: rare
art character doll,a most unusual subject for the
Heubach firm,is rarely found, and ranks among their
finest models in terms of exceptional sculpting
and very fine painting and complexion. This
doll, costumed in trousers and shirt as though a
man,has been in the company of #229,his female
companion, for the past century and is being sold
by the family of the original owners.
