Description
4" (10 cm.) (excluding hat). Each is a French
Papier-mache shoulder head with glass enamel
eyes,painted lashes and brows,open mouth,tiny
teeth,mohair wig over black painted pate,attached
to a hollow carton torso that is covered with rose
or blue silk and has a hidden silk sack tucked
inside that once held delicious bon-bon treats.
Condition: generally excellent. Comments:
French,circa 1850. Value Points: very rare and
beautifully-preserved early "boites de bon-bons"
with daintily-painted faces,original jester
costumes with metallic-gold-edged paper trim and
gold bells,tall silk hats.
