Description
12"(30 cm.) Composition socket head,black sculpted short hair in flapper bobbed
style,painted features,dark side-glancing large round eyes with white eyedots,upturned
nose,closed mouth with defined space between the lips,composition slender body with
elongated arms and legs,jointing at shoulders and hips. Condition: generally excellent,some
crazing on legs under stockings,very faint lines on hair. Marks: Little Annie Rooney,c. King
Features Syndicate,Mfrs Cameo Doll Co,Port Allegheny,Pa (original paper tag with illustration
from the comic strip on one side). Comments: the series was launched in the Chicago Tribune
in 1927,designed to compete with the popular (and similar) Little Orphan Annie; the doll was
made by Cameo,circa 1932 who also,coincidentally,had the license for Little Phan Annie. Value
Points: rare doll with wonderful expression,original tag,original costume and with original
faded coat and hat.
