15"(38 cm.) All-composition doll with socket head,brown sleep eyes,dark eye shadow,lashes,open mouth,four teeth,dimples,blonde mohair wig in original soft curls,jointing at shoulders and hips. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Madame Alexander Sonja Henie (head) Genuine Sonja Henie Doll,Madame Alexander (cloth label on costume). Comments: portrait doll of Sonja Henie (1912-1969),the Norwegian-born famed World Champion figure skater and Hollywood star,her first film in 1936 "One in a Million"made her one of the highest paid stars in Hollywood at that time. The doll was created under license by the Alexander firm,circa 1937. Value Points: the doll is beautifully-preserved,wearing her original tagged skating costume,along with skates,pair of wooden skis,and having a vintage celluloid button "Skate for Pleasure"with image of Sonja,two autographed photographs and silver skates pin incised "Sonja Henie.
