21"(53 cm.) Composition socket head,unusual two-color sleep eyes,real lashes,dark eye
shadow,painted lashes and brows,closed mouth,blushed cheeks,brunette mohair
braids,composition five-piece body with long slender legs. Condition: generally excellent.
Marks: Alexander (doll) Madame Alexander New York (cloth tag). Comments: Alexander,circa
1946,the composition model of Margaret O'Brien was made for one or two years only. The doll
portrays the child star,Margaret O'Brien,(born 1937 as Angela Maxine O'Brien),and changed
her name to Margaret following the success of her 1942 film,"Journey for Margaret". She
remained one of the most popular child stars throughout the 1940s and a plethora of licensed
merchandise from dolls to paper dolls to clothing articles were created under her name. Value
Points: fine original condition with beautiful complexion,wearing her original tagged
costume,with wrist tag,autographed "To Billie with Best Wishes,Margaret O'Brien".
