Composition head with uniquely sculpted facial features and reddish center- parted hair,intaglio-painted blue eyes with white eyedots and black upper eyeliner,high comma-shaped brows,closed mouth with laughing expression and two rows of beaded teeth,impressed laughter dimples in cheeks,muslin body with disc-jointing at shoulders and hips,chubby tummy,stitched black shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: John Bunny Doll c. L.A. & C 1914 exclusively by Louis Amberg with consent of John Bunny (cloth label on costume). Comments: an apt portrait of John Bunny (1863-1915),actor and comedian,who began in minstrel and vaudeville work,and from 1910 to his early death in 1915,became an international celebrity of silent film comedies. Value Points: rare and perfectly preserved portrait doll,with uniquely sculpted face,and with original labeled costume.
