Description
17"(43 cm.) Each has composition shoulder head with brown complexion and sculpted short black hair,painted brown eyes,black brows,closed mouth,excelsior-filled straw body,brown composition hands,and is wearing his factory original pants and shirt,with original paper labels "Amos"or "Andy"and their company Checker Taxi logo,"Check and Double Check". Condition: generally excellent. Marks: N.D. (in circle). Comments: probably Natural Doll Co,circa 1928. The Amos and Andy radio comedy series ran nightly from 1928-1943 and the personalities portrayed by Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll were so popular as to create a demand for novelties,dolls and toys inspired by the show. Value Points: rare dolls in very fine original condition,along with various paper ephemera including two copies of the magazine "What's on the Air"(March 1930 and October 1930,featuring Amos and Andy on the cover.
