sockets with painted blue eyes, thick black brows, closed mouth in wide smiling expression with
two rows of painted teeth,firmly-stuffed cloth body with composition hands. Condition: generally
excellent. Comments: portrait of the silent film actor,William Farnum (1876-1953),portrayed in
his role as Buck Duane in the 1919 Zane Grey film "Last of the Duane's."Value Points: although
simply carved, the doll is a very apt portrayal of existing photographs of the star, here wearing his
original Western costume including leatherette chaps and carrying a wooden-framed metal toy
rifle.
