14" (36 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta head turned slightly sideways, brown sculpted hair peeking from the front of a colorful snood which covers the remainder of her hair, sculpted ears, enamel eyes, heavily-modeled eyelids, mouth modeled as though closed with row of teeth, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and shapely legs, painted blue stockings, yellow shoes with red bows, wearing original homespun gown with ribbon trim and embroidery, muslin blouse, gold beading. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Neapolitan, early 1700s, attributed to the school/workshops of the noted artist, Bottigliere. Value Points: outstanding portraiture enhanced by superb painting of features, rare sculpted hat, original costume.
