17"(43 cm.) All-cloth doll with mask pressed face,painted facial features,prominent round eyes with centered black pupils,black painted hair onto forehead with brown muslin pate behind,painted moustache,stitched ears,brown muslin body. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: the character depicts "Pancho",the sidekick to the Cisco Kid who first appeared in the 1945 "The Cisco Kid Returns"film,played by Martin Garralaga. The Cisco Kid films were based upon the original 1907 short story "The Caballero's Way"by O'Henry,although Pancho did not appear in the O'Henry story. Value Points: rare doll is well-preserved,wearing his original velvet costume with velvet patches on the jacket,bolo scarf,sewn-on velvet shoes,and a very large pressed felt sombrero.
