Description
18"(46 cm.) Felt swivel head with pressed and painted facial features,very pronounced jowls and
double chin,brown side-glancing eyes,dark eye-shadow,painted lashes,closed mouth with row of
painted teeth,painted sideburns,tacked-on felt bi-corn hat,very plump torso,jointed arms and
legs. Condition: very good,some slight dustiness. Comments: in the Lenci manner,maker
uncertain,circa 1920s,probably inspired by performer,as yet unidentified,in a silent film of the
era. Value Points: rare doll with unusual facial model,wearing his elaborate original felt costume
of the Napoleon era.
