21"(53 cm.) Hard-pressed felt swivel head with very narrow shape and pronounced features of
somber-faced man,painted upper-glancing blue eyes,angled brows,closed mouth with downcast
lips,brown painted hair with centerpart,muslin body with flannel hands and feet,and wearing
original sailor costume with middy shirt,bell bottom pants and sailor cap. Condition: generally
excellent. Comments: maker known,late 1920s,the doll probably depicts Stan Laurel in his 1927
comedy Sailors,Beware,a two-reel silent film directed by Hal Roach. Value Points: rare doll with
highly-characterized features.
