19"(48 cm.) Bisque socket head,blue glass paperweight inset eyes,dark eyeliner,lushly-painted
lashes,brush-stroked and multi-feathered brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth with shaded
and outlined lips,pierced ears,dimpled chin,blonde mohair wig over cork pate,French
composition and wooden fully-jointed body,lovely silk dress,undergarments,straw bonnet,aqua
silk shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: D (small incised letter on white square at back
of head) 8 (head) Bebe Jumeau Medaille d'Or (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau,circa 1890,from
the series of commissioned bebe for Paris department and doll stores,the store indicated by the
initial "D"remains a mystery. Value Points: beautiful creamy bisque enhanced by deeply sculpted
features,original signed body.
