Description
13"(33 cm.) Composition head with sculpted brown hair and painted facial features,blue side-
glancing eyes,hole in mouth for whistle sound that is achieved by pushing leg up and
down,composition hands,wearing original black and white checkered shirt and white trousers.
Condition: crazing on crown of head,otherwise excellent. Comments: according to research by
Billie Nelson Tyrell,the doll was inspired by Borrah Minnevitch (1902-1955),leader of the
troupe,The Harmonica Rascals; he appeared in various short films,notably "Borrah Minnevitch
and His Harmonica Rascals"of 1935. Value Points: the doll wears a vintage celluloid button with a
photo of Borrah wearing the same jacket as the doll,and there is a miniature harmonica attached
to the doll.
