Composition shoulder head of slender adult lady,her head tilted upward to the right,with elongated slender throat and modeled bosom,elongated muslin stitch-jointed body with oil-painted fingers,painted brown side-glancing eyes with heavily-defined and painted eyelids,grey eye shadow,feathered brows,accented nostrils,open mouth wtih row of teeth,pierced ears,brunette mohair wig in upswept fashion,wearing (frail) original ivory silk gown with pearl beaded trim,matching heeled shoes,embroidered lace stockings,undergarments,pearls,Condition: very good,some light craquelure on throat,hands worn. Comments: according to research by Billie Nelson Tyrrell,the doll portrays Maxine Elliott (1868-1940),a noted stage actress of the late 19th century,she worked briefly in silent films although no copies of her known films have survived. Value Points: rare portrait model with distinctive expression,rare open mouth for this genre,original painting and original costume.
