9 1/2 "(24 cm.) Including a set of three grey satin lingerie sacs with blue edging,crown symbol and the embroidered initials M.P. Along with a superb faux-tortoise shell letter sealer with richly embossed gilt metal handle decorated with rhinestones and enclosing a pastel scene in the style of 18th century French romantic period,inscribed "Mary Pickford 1917". And with a silverplate cigarette box inscribed "Heather Angel Thank you again,M.P.R.F. 8-9-43"; a (worn finish) brass-plated compact inscribed "To you from Mary Pickford and United Artists"; a tiny purse compact with a silhouette and impressed signature of Mary Pickford,and a silver-plated Kidush cup "Presented to Miss Mary Pickford by Junior Auxiliary of the Jewish Home for the Aged,1945". And with a 30"salon lady doll with elongated limbs,painted hazel side-glancing eyes and long light-brown ringlet curls. The Canadian-born actress (1892-1979) was one of the silent film's most important performers,known popularly as "America's Sweetheart",co- founder of United Artists with Douglas Fairbanks,Charlie Chaplin and D.W. Griffin,and one of the original founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. So signature was her style that when she cut her trademark long curls in 1928 it made front-page news in the The New York Times
