25"(64 cm.) Bisque socket head with very plump cheeks,very large blue glass paperweight
inset eyes,dark eyeliner,painted dark lashes,brush-stroked and feathered brows,rose-blushed
eye shadow,shaded nostrils,closed mouth with shaded and outlined lips,pierced ears,brunette
mohair wig over cork pate,French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body
with straight wrists,lovely antique lace costume with ruffled Belgian lace
bonnet,undergarments,socks,shoes. Condition: generally excellent,original body finish. Marks:
Pan 11. Comments: Henri Delcroix,circa 1887,when the "Pan"name was registered by his firm;
the bebe appears to have been made for only a few years and few examples are known to
exist especially in this larger size. The doll is ex-collection Mildred Seeley,and is also shown in
The Encyclopedia of French Dolls by Theimer,page 178. Value Points: extremely rare bebe is
enhanced by beautiful and unique wide-eyed expression.
